“Georgia does not have a state mandated nurse to patient ratio. How does that impact me?”
If hospitals have a higher nurse-to-patient ratios, you may experience:
Delays in Response Times – Nurses may be responsible for multiple patients causing delays in responding to your changing needs and questions. Our doulas provide you with 1:1 support. We help to answer questions and address your needs.
Emotional Support Deficiency – Nurses have less time to provide you with emotional and physical comfort during labor. Your doula will provide real time emotional and physical support.
Increased Medical Interventions – You are less likely to receive hands-on, non-pharmacological pain management techniques, potentially leading to increased use of epidurals, labor augmentation (like Pitocin), or cesarean sections. Educated in multiple pain management techniques, your doula can help you manage your pain in a way that you choose.
YOUR BODY. YOUR BIRTH. YOUR WAY.
